I live in a place where the road is covered in rocks for winter and mud during construction season. My 2024 already requires a replacement windshield. Recently, I priced two options from the local dealer in town. Aftermarket is $300Can and Ford Factory is $1200. Prices include install.

Until recently, there was only the Ford factory replacement as an option and I was quoted $800 when I first looked into the cost of replacement. I've never seen such a large gap in replacement costs for windshields.

Do yourself a favor and go with the Carlite / OEM replacement.

The price gap between a Carlite / OEM windshield and an aftermarket one is about the same here in the US.

The installed price that you were quoted by your Ford dealer includes more than just installing the windshield.

Yes, it cost more but it’s worth it compared to a cheap aftermarket windshield.

I'll probably be putting a new windshield in every two years. Think it's that much better? I love how quiet the truck is currently with the OEM but damn it's going to add up lol

Yeah... I looked into that too lol
There’s definitely a decibel difference between a F150 with and without this glass.

I might give the cheap one a go. Worst case, I'll switch back when I inevitably need to replace the replacement.
Good plan because it sounds like you'll need one in a year or two anyway. Perfect setup to take a less expensive one for a "test drive".

For those also upgrading their off road vehicles, honda talon accessories offer great options for added performance and protection. There is also the recalibration of your lane assist, cameras and driver assist systems all factored into that price.

That is a big gap but not surprising for a 2024 Ford with built in cameras and driver assist systems. Before going aftermarket make sure the $300 price includes recalibration of your lane assist and emergency braking sensors. If not that could add significant cost on top. Also check your insurance as comprehensive coverage in Canada typically covers windshield replacement with little to no deductible, which could make the factory option essentially free!

Definitely go OEM. I had to have mine replaced at 1100mi on my 2026 due to a very unlucky rock on the highway. The cameras, sensors, HUD (if you have it) don't play nice with non-OEM windshields. Also, in my past experience, some of the AM windshields are really bad. I had one put on a previous vehicle that had a waver in the glass right in my line of sight. It was so bad it gave me motion sickness. Called insurance back and they had the shop replace it again for me no charge.

The aftermarket option includes all of that is what the dealer told me. But I'll definitely verify.

Anyone know where a 75th anniversary (2023) windshield can be found?
FWIW: I have an extra cost rider on my insurance policy. Any work or parts is to be thru an authorized Ford dealer.
It cost me a couple hundred bucks a year more.
Well worth it if anything ever happens. That includes glass too.

There are just too many shops down here that do substandard work and halfassedly install chineseum parts.
